Our Story

“May you have fair winds and following seas and long may your big jib draw!”

We are a small family run Craft Distillery producing premium quality spirits. Based in the county of Herefordshire, it all began with a passion for Rum and having an extensive background in the beverage industry, we put both together, added some family members and Golden Wake Distillery was born!

We then spent many years developing and perfecting our first product, Golden Wake Spiced Rum. We feel our Rum has the perfect balance of spices and is smooth enough to drink on its own, along with also putting a twist on many classic cocktails!

We are also constantly developing and innovating new and exciting products, extending from our Golden Wake Spiced Rum to Hereford Dry Gin, and Herefordshire Vodka and our unique ‘No Quarter’ Gin.

In case you are wondering about the nautical background, our family has a long association with the sea, both Naval and the Fishing Industry, with family running boats out of Aberystwyth for many years.

In fact the name Golden Wake comes from one of these, and I’m sure if you look far back enough, we could maybe find a few pirates lurking about in the family bloodline!

The Golden Wake and her Skipper have sadly gone to visit Davy Jones’ Locker, and the pirates……. Well that’s another story!!!
